Skipped Kings

From Prophecy
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Prophecies often focus on individuals and kings that hold some sort of significance and leave out those that don't. Daniel 11 is a good example of this. Verse two of that passage speaks of three kings that will come after Darius the Mede, and a forth that will become wealthy and stir up the Greeks. Right after that it speaks of Alexander the Great's rise to power. But in looking at Persian history, there are many kings between this 4th king and Alexander. Was the bible incorrect in prophecy? It is not. As mentioned in another part of this wiki, Prophecies are often out of order. Some things that happen later in time shows up earlier in a passage. God also leaves out kings that don't fit his narrative. We may see them as significant, but ultimately God defines significant.
